Ungawa

As a child, I was fascinated with the Johnny Weissmuller Tarzan movies. What an idyllic life! A loving family, living in a tree house, no boring school all day, ostrich eggs over easy for breakfast, and a pet chimpanzee. Every day was a field day with a picnic.

And Tarzan had a magic word! Ungawa! I never knew what it meant, but when Tarzan said it, stuff happened. Even to this day, at the gracefully decrepit age of 140, I still find myself saying “Ungawa” when things don’t go right and I need a quick thaumaturgic (my new word-of-the-day) fix.

PanCocoJams has a thoughtful historical and cultural review of “Ungawa”.

Tarzan: The Garden of Eden?

I think there is more than meets the eye here. Architypes, legends, the curse of imperialism, the curse of greed, the fellowship of man, and man and nature.

Ostrich Eggs

I wish I knew the whole story, but a non-profit in Cincinnati, La Soupe, received a donation of an ostrich egg, which they turned into a giant deviled egg. Could this be The Worlds Largest Deviled Egg (TWLDE)? We applaude La Soupe’s commitment to feeding the hungry and reducing food waste.

More eggs….
