Windy Martha

Thanks to Unindicted Co-conspirator #3 for today’s topic.

Windy Martha sounds like either a cocktail or a digestive condition. But today, let’s look at the massive wind project off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard: Vineyard Wind.

Vineyard Wind 1

This is kind of corporate Rah-Rah, but it’s still pretty cool….

Fun Facts

  • each blade of these turbines is longer than a football (or soccer) field
  • power: 62 units producing 13 megawatts each, or a total 806 mW.
  • the project can power one million Coney Island Hot Dog Steamers at one time
  • at max power generation and at their contracted rate of $0.09/kwh, this Vineyard Wind project will bring in $72,540 per hour.
  • smelt 110,422 pounds of aluminum per hour
  • toast 71,734,000 slices of bread per hour, including selfie toast
  • again, Quora?
  • charge 140,583,717,716 phones
  • simultaneously clean 1,612,000 bowling balls
  • power between 8 and 80 supercolliders (based on how tricked-out they are)
  • 3 WLBOTT Time Machines

Carbon Cost

Let’s say that this Turd-In-The-Punch-Bowl (TITPB) delayed this single green project by two years. How much carbon is he personally responsible for putting into our atmosphere because of his toddleresque petulance, just on this one project? Between 6 and 15 MILLION TONS.

Total mWH delayed: 2 years * 364.24 days/year * 24 hrs/day * 62 units *13mW/unit

So, TITPB had concerns about fishing and safety? This is the guy that let almost half a million Americans die to score political points.

Sometimes we need Judy Judy to tell it like it is….

Let’s head out on a different reflection of Martha….

One reply on “Windy Martha”

I think the WLBOTT team should be careful about criticizing the carbon footprint of others. 268.66 MW to power one time machine? That’s what we aging hippies call “Conspicuous Consumption”.
