[UC#1]
This is the robot that my son [UC#1-P1] has been working on for the last year or more. Most of it was 3-D printed on his printer. He had to figure out all the wiring and computer programming and all that stuff. This was the final part, getting the wheel motors going and responding to the proper remote control commands.
On his behalf I am happy to make the announcement for use on the WLBOTT site.

Subject: R5-D4 moves!
I’ve been trying to get R5-D4 motorised before the snow arrived. Well, I only beat the snow by a few days – but I did beat the snow!
Here’s a short video of my results. Cheers!

Ismail al-Jazari: the Father of Robotics
13th century Muslim scientist Ismail al-Jazari created several automated devices. He built automated moving peacocks driven by hydropower. He also invented the earliest known automatic gates, which were driven by hydropower, created automatic doors as part of one of his elaborate water clocks. One of al-Jazari’s humanoid automata was a waitress that could serve water, tea or drinks. – Wikipedia

Semi-sequitur: Inspiration from Bruce Lee
The medicine for my suffering, I had within me from the very beginning, but I did not take it. My ailment came from within myself, but I did not observe it until this moment. And now I see that will never find the light unless, like the candle, I am my own fuel.
Bruce Lee, as quoted by Shannon Lee
