Lives of the Elders – UC#3
Esteemed Elders – I know I have been light on WLLBOT contributions lately with all my travel and jet lag. But I offer you this blast from the past – one of my golf buddies was a IBM JCL and Panvalet nerd. He still uses a flip phone.
Esteemed Elders – I flew for many years on helicopters for work. In the 70’s, they were piloted by sometimes sober Vietnam vets who would buzz alligators and deer in the Louisiana swamps as we headed offshore. Safety standards improved over the years.
We commonly would discuss the Jesus Nut after we arrived safely to our location on an offshore rig.

And now for the nerdiest limerick ever written: There once was an engineer named Clive Generating JCL and Panvalet made him feel alive He once had to fly in a helicopter to Connecticut But he was extremely concerned about the Jesus Nut So he analyzed his safety risk using Fortran V Mic drop. - UC#3
Jesus nut is a slang term for the main rotor retaining nut or mast nut, which holds the main rotor to the mast of some helicopters. The related slang term Jesus pin refers to the lock pin used to secure the retaining nut.
More generally, Jesus nut (or Jesus pin) has been used to refer to any component that is a single point of failure which results in catastrophic consequences, and the only thing left to do is, metaphorically speaking, pray to Jesus, hence the name. – Wikipedia
