One of the scariest aspects of TrumpWorld (and there are many) is that he is encouraging his followers to consider him the anointed one, the chosen one, the persecuted Christ.
Trump shares bizarre biblical video saying God made him to be America’s ‘caretaker’
Republican gives full vent to messiah complex on eve of Iowa caucuses
The three-minute clip, posted to Truth Social on Sunday evening, opens on grainy footage of an LP turning on a record player, broadcasting an apparently ancient sermon in which a preacher intones: “And on 14 June 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said: ‘I need a caretaker.’
“So God gave us Trump,” the voiceover adds.

And on June 14th, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, “I need a caretaker.” So God gave us Trump. God said, “I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, fix this country, work all day, fight the Marxists, eat supper, then go to the Oval Office and stay past midnight at a meeting of the heads of state. So God made Trump. “I need somebody with arms strong enough to rustle the Deep State and yet gentle enough to deliver his own grandchild, somebody to ruffle the feathers, tame cantankerous World Economic Forum, come home hungry, have to wait until the First Lady is done with lunch with friends, then tell the ladies to be sure and come back real soon. And mean it. So God gave us Trump.
Indeed, in a span of some 30 minutes last Thursday morning, Trump made 31 posts about E. Jean Carroll on Truth Social—a woman for whom a jury unanimously found Trump liable for sexual abuse and battery. That’s not the action of a well-adjusted man, and looks like doubling down of the most morally dubious kind.

Trump’s Favorite Bible Verse
A faithful churchgoer he’s not. After he held up a Bible for his violence-enabled photo op in Lafayette Square, a reporter asked him, “Is that your Bible?” He replied, “It’s a Bible.” If, as he seemed to be saying (unsurprisingly), this particular Bible did not belong to him, its actual owner remained unknown.

In the Christian nationalist theological framework, all manner of right-wing culture war issues, including drag shows, COVID-19 vaccines, and now the looming indictment of Trump, became primordial battles between good and evil.
Trump has harnessed surging Christian nationalism to his advantage, and has recently adopted increasingly apocalyptic rhetoric to imbue his campaign with a sense of urgency. – Vice

10 Donald Trump Quotes That Should Horrify His Evangelical Supporters
(From a 2016 HuffPost Article – things have not gotten better.)
The New York Times
Trump, his family and his supporters have been more than willing to claim that Trump is ordained by God for a special mission, to restore America as a Christian nation.
In recent weeks, for example, the former president posted a video called “God Made Trump” on Truth Social that was produced by a conservative media group technically independent of the Trump campaign. He has also screened it at campaign rallies.
The video, along with Eric Trump’s claim that his father “literally saved Christianity” and the image Donald Trump reposted on Truth Social of Jesus sitting next to him in court, raises a question: Does Trump believe that he is God’s messenger, or are his direct and indirect claims to have a special relationship with God a cynical ploy to win evangelical votes?
The prosecutions underway against Trump have been easily interpretable as signs of persecution, which can then connect to the suffering Jesus theme in Christianity. Trump has been able to leverage that with lines like, “They’re not persecuting me. They’re persecuting you.” The idea that he is unjustly suffering and, in so doing, vicariously absorbing the suffering that his followers would be enduring is a powerful way for Trump to be identified with Jesus. – New York Times

The Amazon reviews are well worth the price of admission. They seem to fall into four categories
- those repulsed by the blasphemy, who are not laughing
- those repulsed by the blasphemy, but who have a pretty good sense of humor about the end of the world
- true believers in Trump
- and finally, those who don’t think the book goes far enough
Curated Reviews for your enjoyment…. And guys, can we stop with the pagan bashing? They have, by far, the best pot lucks.
