[part 1 of 27] What are the WLBOTTers watching?
The Tourist
“You’ve got amnesia? Awesome!”
When a man wakes up in the Australian outback with no memory, he must use the few clues he has to discover his identity before his past catches up with him. – IMDB
Here are just some of the countries where you can stream The Tourist:
You can even stream The Tourist in the Hermit Kingdom of Great Britain.
But can you stream it in the US of A? Nyet, comrade.
Astrid
(also under the title Astrid et Raphaëlle)
Astrid is a young woman with Asperger’s. Through a series of plausible coincidences, she assists a lively, impulsive (and very messy) Paris detective (Raphaëlle) in solving a murder. Their relationship slowly develops and more crimes are solved. The police procedural part is entertaining, but the really interesting aspect of this series is the character study of Astrid. She is odd, and often annoying, but we see her humanity and her struggles. Through the brilliant acting of Sara Mortensen as Astrid, we get glimpses of her intense internal emotional life that is often overlooks by the insensitive NTs.
Astrid brings us into the world of Neuro-Divergents. She attends a weekly support group for NDs (neurodivergent). The group allows them to vent their frustrations at the NTs (neurotypicals), who are often confoundingly difficult to communicate with (plus a lot of them are just jerks).
The show has periods of wild humor – in one episode, a co-worker has a crush on Astrid, and (thinking she is letting him gently to spare his feelings), she explains in graphic detail why she is not attracted to him – totally eviscerating the poor dude.

Currently on Prime in US of A (just for a few more days).
