AI Image Generation: Status and Challenges

At WLBOTT, we applaud the Triumph of Talent Over Technology (TOTOT). A big part of that is AI image generation.

Current favorite – lot’s of variety, good image quality. But, you only get x number of free, low res images per day. After that, you must buy credits. Each high quality image is about $0.06, but like any bad habit, it adds up.

This is a wacky site – completely free, lots of options and styles, but fairly poor resolution. The site is mainly oriented toward anime and cartoons.

Very good (maybe one of the best) image generators, based on Dall-e 3. But… here’s the weird thing – you only get a handful of free images. After that, you can still generate images, but in slow-mo. To get back to full speed, you need to add boosts. But you can’t buy boosts, you have to transfer Microsoft Reward points (apparently it’s 100 rewards per boost). How do you get Microsoft Rewards? Truly a deal with the devil – you have to use Edge, use Bing, take stupid surveys,…. Dear god, what a bizarre, twisted world. I went onto Edge for the first time in years to check out the rewards. I don’t know how people use Edge – it is non-stop aggressive advertising, sponsored links, …. To quote Roy from The IT Crowd, “If this was a human being I’d shoot it in the face.”
