Breakfast with the Elders

Gentleblotts – alluding to the brilliant film ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ , I must introduce an important discussion of our breakfast habits as we embark on our twine tour.

In my experience, there are very  personal preferences on the first meal of the day.  I welcome input.

1 – no breakfast.  My spousal unit does not want to eat before noon.

2 – Farmer’s breakfast- eggs, steak, grits, potatoes, toast.

3 – sweet breakfast – pancakes, French toast, waffles with maple syrup

4 – my absolute favorite- smoked fish (salmon , mackerel and the amazing Russian smoked butter fish), soft boiled eggs, capers, onions, toast.  Then attending a meeting with odiferous breath that would slay a dragon.

Input welcome.

Excellent inquiry. Definitely a WLBOTT Wonders.

I, too, try to not eat until noon. It’s a deal I’ve made with my pancreas – in exchange for eating an entire box of Girl Scout Cookies (single serving, right?) in bed before falling asleep, I will give the pancreas a chance to recover.

That being said, I keep a jar of pickled herring and onions in the fridge, and love to eat straight from the jar. In my own defense, I do use a fork.

Ever since being introduced this delicacy at Sambos, I love a large medium rare hamburger with 3 to 15 eggs over-easy for breakfast.

I find refried beans (w/sour cream or cheese) a welcome addition to any breakfast, and is paired nicely with scrambled eggs.

Other gentleblotts, your ideas?

Fellow WLBOTTiers,

I’m afraid my breakfast habits are pretty boring by comparison:  weekdays it’s a single bowl of raison bran with fake milk, weekends, breakfast sausage and 2 eggs, over, hard and a glass of oj.

I do recall breakfast in England.  After much experimenting, I settled on ham and eggs.  I tried their idea of sausage; it had the taste and texture of (I imagine) wet, used toilet paper.

I have worked with folks who had breath like kerosene after eating fish for breakfast and it is not fun.

I came across a new word in my reading today: scatological.

[ed. note: I had no idea. I always thought this word was associated with a profound philosophical concept. Maybe it is?]

I’ve been thinking about Breakfast foods for the Blott. I don’t normally eat breakfast, but I had a dream last night of eating Lucky Charms.

Sally the Intern’s Selection

Sally’s preference is the “Eggonomical” from The Omlettry – gingerbread pancakes and eggs over easy.

Semi-Sequitur: The Omlettry

UC#4-SU’s Selection

Coffee, migas, tortillas, beans, hot sauce. Major emphasis on the coffee.

UC#3 Deep Dive: Smoked Fish / Boiled Eggs

UC#1 Deep Dive: Bran, Twine, String and Fake Milk

Since UC#1 is using fake milk, perhaps he’d like to meet with the sad children of the unemployed cows?

UC#4 Deep Dive: Hamburger and Eggs

Scatological Shenanigans

One reply on “Breakfast with the Elders”

I am so sorry for the unemployed cows, but it isn’t my fault. The trend started long ago when you could buy contented milk from evaporated cows.
