UC#4-SU was reading today’s news of the death of O. J. Simpson. His bio contained his stint in Lovelock Correctional Center outside Reno, for kidnapping and stealing his own crappy memorabilia.
Then SU noticed an interesting typo. [ed. note: as a challenge to our artistic skills, we used a different shade of orange in each background]. The reporter typed “Trump” rather than “O.J. Simpson” when describing his release from prison.
O, the tyranny of cut-and-paste. Many, many other news outlets repeated this typo.
WLBOTT Scoops Newsweek!
Lovelock Correctional Center
Nestled under the picturesque mountains of northwestern Nevada, Locklove Correctional Center is a place where 1,680 folks call home. Until recently, this included O.J.
Convenient and Customer-Oriented
Will there be a Buffet?
Well, not at Lovelock (at least, not open to the public). But if we head east to Salt Lake City, we can dine at the Utah Correctional Industries’ cafe.
WLBOTT Wonders: What are they serving at Utah Correctional Industries? A: They are serving time.
Utah Correctional Industries “Serving Time Café” is a restaurant open to the public located on Prison Property next to the UCI Showroom. The Serving Time Café opened their doors for business December 7, 2009 with three staff and five inmate participants. The Serving Time Café serves both breakfast and lunch, with breakfast available all day. All of the food is prepared, baked, and grilled by inmates involved in a culinary arts program.
Utah prison officials announced Tuesday evening that it will close the Serving Time Cafe, a popular breakfast and lunch joint staffed by incarcerated women.
The cafe, which was located adjacent to the Draper prison location, had been open to the public for the last 13 years. It was temporarily closed recently due to restrictions with the coronavirus pandemic — but prison officials said Tuesday it won’t reopen.
