World’s Largest Cow Hairball: world record in Garden City, Kansas

Removed from the stomach of a cow that was processed in a nearby packing house [Tyson], this mammoth trichobezoar was nearly 40 inches in circumference and was said to have weighed 55 pounds wet when first removed. Though smaller and drier now, it’s still a very impressive sight. Visitors are free to lightly touch the ball (it feels like a velvet basketball) but signage politely reminds them not to pick it up.

Hoss the Ohio human hairball is now officially the world’s largest ball of hair

Ohio now has one new claim to fame: home to the world’s largest ball of human hair.

Hoss the Hairball, the furry 225-pound creation of Cambridge-based hairstylist Steve Warden, was named the world’s largest human hairball by the Guinness Book of World Records in mid-December.

The previous record-holder was a 167-pound ball of human hair created by Henry Coffer, a barber from Charleston, Missouri, who claimed the title in 2008. Coffer, who was 77, had collected his clients’ hair for more than 50 years.
