BLOTTarians – I’m having dinner at a Texas bbq joint with a guy from Kazakhstan and another from China. Just talked with someone who went to Cuba and is heading to Turkey. And we just went to Japan and our son to NZ. Life today is tied to using internet , relatively cheap travel, AI, cell phones , etc. In 1924 , people got their news from papers and didn’t travel more than 10 miles (16km) from their house.
The thought experiment I am proposing for the Elders to discuss in the next few weeks is :
In 2124 – how will people be living, traveling and staying connected?
Rule #1 – this has to be positive and not dwell on climate change, political turmoil, etc. what is an optimistic and inventive view of 2124?
N.b. In 1970, we had the Jetsons with flying cars and Spacely Space sprockets.
And UC#2 [the youngest of the Elders] has the task when he is 130 years old to resurrect this WLBOTT folder and compare our predictions with reality.
UC#3
A very positive reception from the Elders! We all have our own unique visions of the future.
But UC#4 can’t be happy without a little angst (preferably existential).
UC#3, I love this idea!
But can I please, please, please…. have a little dystopia?
UC#4
To which UC#3 responded.
I’ll leave the amount of dystopia to your conscience.
UC#3
Not sure if I can handle the implications of free will.
Before getting into the deeper questions, let’s make sure we’re properly accessorized to visit the world of 2124.
