WLBOTT Seminary of Universal Pantheology (S’UP)

The WLBOTT Seminary of Universal Pantheology (S’UP) has brought an issue to the Elders.

They are concerned that future schisms, divisions, ruptures, apostasies, recantations, and various doctrinal differences will damage the theological integrity of the WLBOTT pantheon.

For example, since WLBOTT is based on being marginal in all areas, a central pantheon member is the God of Just Good Enough. Even in this early stage of WLBOTT history, this god has obtained two names, leading to confusion.

Ovofibra

Another example is Ovofibra, our Goddess of Eggs and Twine. Without clear interpretation of theology, various cults have sprung up.

Let’s enumerate the various sects and splinters, starting with the most problematic.

The Death Cult

This heresy is the most egregious, since Ovofibra represents, among other personifications, Fertility, Creation, Nurturing and Care.

Destructive cults

Destructive cult generally refers to groups whose members have, through deliberate action, physically injured or killed other members of their own group or other people. The Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance specifically limits the use of the term to religious groups that “have caused or are liable to cause loss of life among their membership or the general public.” Psychologist Michael Langone… defines a destructive cult as “a highly manipulative group which exploits and sometimes physically and/or psychologically damages members and recruits.”

Doomsday cults

Doomsday cult is an expression which is used to describe groups that believe in Apocalypticism and Millenarianism, and it can also be used to refer both to groups that predict disaster, and groups that attempt to bring it about.

People… strive to find meaning in global events such as the turn of the millennium when many predicted it prophetically marked the end of an age and thus the end of the world. An ancient Mayan calendar ended at the 2012 years, sparking the 2012 phenomenon as many anticipated catastrophic disasters would rock the Earth.

Funerary cult

A funerary cult is a body of religious teaching and practice centered on the veneration of the dead, in which the living are thought to be able to confer benefits on the dead in the afterlife or to appease their otherwise wrathful ghosts. Rituals were carried on for the benefit of the dead, either by their relatives or by a class of priests appointed and paid to perform the rites. These rituals took place at the tombs of the dead themselves or at mortuary temples appointed to this purpose. Funerary cults are found in a wide variety of cultures.

Ovofibra: New Age Interpretation

Interesting, but again, not canonical.

New Age is a range of spiritual or religious practices and beliefs which rapidly grew in Western society during the early 1970s. Its highly eclectic and unsystematic structure makes a precise definition difficult. Although many scholars consider it a religious movement, its adherents typically see it as spiritual or as unifying Mind-Body-Spirit, and rarely use the term New Age themselves. Scholars often call it the New Age movement, although others contest this term and suggest it is better seen as a milieu[1] or zeitgeist.

Nyet. Not okay.

Cultural Appropriation

Nyet. Not cool. Never cool.

Cultural appropriation is the inappropriate or unacknowledged adoption of an element or elements of one culture or identity by members of another culture or identity. This can be especially controversial when members of a dominant culture appropriate from minority cultures. According to critics of the practice, cultural appropriation differs from acculturation, assimilation, or equal cultural exchange in that this appropriation is a form of colonialism. When cultural elements are copied from a minority culture by members of a dominant culture, and these elements are used outside of their original cultural context – sometimes even against the expressly stated wishes of members of the originating culture – the practice is often received negatively.

Ecumenism – also called interdenominationalism, or ecumenicalism – is the concept and principle that Christians who belong to different Christian denominations should work together to develop closer relationships among their churches and promote Christian unity. The adjective ecumenical is thus applied to any non-denominational initiative that encourages greater cooperation and union among Christian denominations and churches.
