WLBOTT HQ recently received this panic email from UC#3:
UC#3Dude – [unspecified location] has an online system to check your water usage and you can set alerts to text you if your usage goes above a certain threshold.
I got a text today that I used had 1.04 million gallons this month and that my projected water bill is $34k. After inspecting my property for a geyser, I called the city. A nice lady told me there was a ‘software glitch’ and not to worry. As a baseline, we typically use < xxxxxx gal per day.
The WLBOTT Response:
UC#3, I’m going to link in UC#1 A, because we need a commonwealth perspective. Plus I think we also need a BLOTT, to raise awareness.
My advice – just pay the darn bill and check for leaks. A leak of that size should be easy to spot.
