[Guest Blott from UC#3]
Gentle People – using my WLBOTT Amex card[1], I ventured to East Bernard Texas to evaluate the quality of Vincek’s Smokehouse. It is a Czech style place where you can buy fresh meat, cooked bbq or get your deer processed after a hunt. I would give the sausage I sampled a 6 out of 10 (I am a harsh grader when it comes to smoked sausage). They use pecan vs mesquite, oak or applewood which creates a very strong smoke flavor. They use a very long horizontal smoker as pictured.

Also, in the Czech style, the grind on the sausage was more fine than I prefer but the natural sausage casing had a nice snap.
On the way back home, I passed by the diamond ring factory in Rosenberg Texas where we bought our engagement ring 40 years ago and where I formally proposed to my wife sitting in my 1983 Datsun in the parking lot of the diamond warehouse. Very romantic.

UC#3-SU and I had been together for 4.5273 years (1,653.56237 days) and started looking for a house. We engaged UC#3-SU’s dad for a house inspection. I was sitting in my office at Dismal Failure Engineering and got a call from UC#3-SU from her office at PetroMaw Global Baytown. Her dad had called her and wondered if we were going to get married before we buy the house.

Sitting in our offices, we agreed we probably should get married. That led to a rapid, engineering-based plan of setting up the wedding, buying a ring, etc. the car where the formal engagement took place was a blue Datsun/Nissan. In 1983, Datsun decided to change their brand name to Nissan, so this caused my car to have both Datsun and Nissan logos. Subsequently, I sold the car at Hopkins to the future Icelandic Civil Defense minister.

Sausage Interlude
Gentle peeps – I neglected to provide documentation of the sausage cross section.

[ed. note: A google image search of the sausage cross-section yielded an unexpected result…]

The Ring
UC#3 purchased his engagement ring at the Herfort Diamond Ring Factory in Rosenberg, Tx.

UC#3 rejected these rather plain ring contenders in lieu of more Austintateous designs.

Sausage Ring?
To capture the romantic magic of East Bernard and the ambiance of Vincek’s Smokehouse and Deer Processing, UC#3 considered a sausage-themed engagement ring.

The Improbable Proposal
UC#3 provided a few images that the WLBOTT editorial board considered improbable (because he’s wearing a clean shirt), and will therefore not be included in today’s post.

The Nuns’ Gentle Encouragement
UC#3’s original story somehow involves nuns in the engagement process. He failed to mention this in his above account. Could it be that this shy young man needed some encouragement from the Sisters at St. Bernard Convent?
